Amusing is a podcast launched in 2022 that carves out a unique niche in a saturated market by transforming the "two best friends" trope into a curated remedy for listener boredom. Strategically positioned between random relatability and unexpected insight, the brand balances the dual concepts of "musing" and "amusing", blending thoughtful contemplation with entertainment.
The visual identity is inspired by a handwritten signature logo that evokes the personal nature of journaling, while the creative direction for the cover art leans into a playful yet sophisticated aesthetic. By utilising artfully posed, stylish, and humorous imagery, the design exaggerates the hosts' personalities with a professional finish that resonates with a modern audience.
This connection is further strengthened through local creative strategies, such as a personalised "thrift-box" giveaway in Melbourne’s Fitzroy. By tapping into local trends and high-energy video content, the campaign achieved viral growth, growing the community from 200 to 5,000 followers overnight and reaching 130,000 people. Combining a grounded, reflective tone with high-impact social engagement, the brand continued to expand by encouraging listeners to muse and be amused by the wonderful randomness of life.
Amusing partnered with Savers on a thrift giveaway, creating a video that captured the quirky essence of the brand. The video, inspired by Wes Anderson’s cinematic style, featured a series of playful and awkward angles.
